It’s just another weekend in Cologne. Well, not really. It’s Week-End Fest and the organizers have spared no effort in making it extra special once again. As a commissioned one-off project Venezuelan American singer-songwriter and visual artist Devendra Banhart comes to Cologne to perform with the local Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld. Also Japanese musician Shintaro Sakamoto will be playing. Formerly of the psychedelic rock band Yura Yura Teikoku, after the band split in 2010 he had major indie success with his solo debut How To Live With A Phantom. In Cologne he will play his first solo live show, performing his solo debut and his latest record Love If Possible. The other acts on at the two-night festival will be the ever-touching electronic producer Laurel Halo and the slightly-scientific but still grooving techno-not-techno act Holly Herndon. As a very special guest, Juana Molina will be arriving from Buenos Aires, bringing her voodoo pop with her. The other Latin American band is O Terno from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who will perform neo-tropical music accented by Brazilian rhythms. Check the full program here and watch out for some after-hour action that will be announced on the day.
