Today sees the launch of Rewire 2021. This online edition will feature specially commissioned musical works, remote collaborations, and world premieres, presented by Carhartt WIP.
Running from May 6 to 9, the international festival, known for its experimental approach to music, will play out over four different channels, with a series of projects and formats demonstrating the multitude of ways that artists have been creating while under lockdown restrictions.
The line-up features more than 70 artists, showcasing a variety of musical styles and visual ideas, in both live and pre-recorded formats. On the bill is French musician Félicia Atkinson and British filmmaker Ben Rivers, presenting the world premiere of their first immersive audiovisual collaboration. Also: Australian leftfield electronic duo CS + Kreme present their first moving image work, which sees them team up with Italian visual artist and director Alessandra Leone. Additionally, Japanese psychedelic drone folk sensation Satomimagae, Amsterdam-based ambient dervish Jonny Nash, and Norwegian electronic duo Smerz will perform.
