They put their ideas instantly into practice and they live for the stage: the Danish trio WhoMadeWho is back with their second longplayer within a year. It’s called Brighter and as the name implies: it is a vivid Indiepop showbag. As continuity is a huge priority for Carhartt we stick up with them again and present their upcoming A Brighter Europe tour.
Since their day of foundation WhoMadeWho is difficult to pin down but their music sounds as effortless as it is stylistically and sonically adventurous. Having formed in 2003, the genre-bending trio made up of Jeppe Kjellberg, Tomas Høffding, and Tomas Barfod honed their skills on stage and in the studio, releasing a series of bestselling records on Munich based Label Gomma Records and topped off by their first Kompakt Records mini EP Knee Deep. Beside composing haunting melodies they are one of Europe’s most heart-stopping live acts. Due their career they performed alongside the likes of LCD Soundystem or Daft Punk, they are found as staples of the summer Festival circuit and it must be said that Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age loves the band so much that he even did a cover of their song Space For Rent. WhoMadeWho have truly succeeded on their mission to eschew convention while fusing Pop and Disco with Punk paraphernalia. Their new album operates as the missing link between the radical playfulness of the band’s previous full-length The Plot and the introspective focus of their first Kompakt release Knee Deep, bridging their early work with a newly founded sense of sincerity and musicianship.
Besides presenting their A Brighter Europe tour Carhartt designed exclusive shirts that will be offered before and after their shows. To get an impression of their stage skills take a look at this video showing the boys from Copenhagen playing live at our Carhartt Store in Munich last June:
