Shot in Dakar, Senegal, this S/S22 editorial sees utilitarian styles, such as the men’s Double Front Jacket, executed in robust Parkland denim and stone-washed for a unique, worn-in appearance. This treatment has also been applied to ever-present denim staples in the collection, like the Klondike Pant. Work-inspired details punctuate the selection, illustrated by the dual-layered panels of the Double Front Jacket, and the hammer loop that appears on the Montana Short. In women’s, items like the W’ Nora Jacket and W’ Pierce Pant have been sun-washed for a deeper, distinguishable fade, and are complemented by neutral-tone jersey tees and accessories in the collection.
Elsewhere, elements of watercolor paintings are applied to classic Carhartt WIP items across the men’s and women’s collections. The Regular Cargo Pant and summer version of the men’s Michigan Coat feature an allover Camo Tide print that exhibits a painterly quality in its color gradients and brushstroke patterns, echoing hand-painted camouflage motifs of “camofleur” artists in the 1920s. The W’ Michigan Coat, meanwhile, is rendered in a more subtle printed colorway, as if naturally faded by the sun. Complementing these garments are jersey tees and shorts in blue, brown, and taupe, bringing to life the selection’s aquarelle influences.
