Carhartt WIP has always created clothing that works. Traditionally, this sense of functionality in the brand’s clothes has manifested in cotton canvas creations, inspired by original workwear, but the same design ethos applies to every item the brand creates. Each season, Carhartt WIP offers a selection of jackets designed to be worn outdoors, and offer the same utilitarian spirit as all its garments are known for – in this case, protection against inclement weather.
While some items are constructed from lightweight nylon Supplex™ fabric, which offers protection against rain showers, other seasonal collaborations with GORE-TEX, have gone one step further, utilizing the brand’s renowned INFINIUM™ technology and other performance-led details, such as taped seams and two-way zip closures.
In recent seasons, the brand has also taken inspiration from the way Carhartt garments have been repurposed over the years by outdoor enthusiasts and rock climbers to fit their needs. This has resulted in garments which reference vintage outdoor silhouettes, and are executed in fabrics such as mechanical stretch ripstop, which is both lightweight and water-repellent. D-rings, multiple pockets for storage, and reflective detailing all add further functionality to these styles.
