After a two year pause brought about by the pandemic and severe flooding in the local region, Meakusma Festival is finally returning to the city of Eupen, Belgium. The event will be taking place right at the edge of the country’s largest nature reserve, the High Fens.
Between the 1st to the 4th of September, visitors will be able to enjoy live performances, DJ sets, and art installations, in both the original Alter Schlachthof venue, as well as some newer spaces being debuted this year. Scheduled to play are DJs such as Buttechno, Anthony Naples, DJ Python, James K, Tapes, Phillip Jondo, Nosedrip, Anadol, Yeahlena, and Gavsborg of the Jamaican collective Equiknoxx. Live shows will include avant-garde, tribal dub, hypnotic acid, and experimental guitar music, from acts like the legendary Fred Frith, Detroit producer and vocalist John F.M., Berlin improv masters Splitter Orchestra, Wild Terrier Orchestra from Athens, Spanish producer Suso Sáiz, and the Paris-based trance duo Froid Dub.
