"The world is a terrible place for sensitive people, but the closer we come to losing our minds, the harder we’ll work to keep them" the London-born poet, spoken word artist and playwright Kate Tempest wrote in her poetry book Hold Your Own in 2014. Now she is back with her outstanding second album Let Them Eat Chaos and her deeply moving debut novel The Bricks that Built the Houses. Again her words are strong, thoughtful, livelily and full of hope. Sometimes they work like a Japanese haiku. Sometimes they are a literal knockout. In her book as well as in her music she restores critical power in popular culture, that was not around that powerful since Joe Strummer passed away, Mike Skinner lost his lyrical brilliancy and people like Billy Bragg vanish out of the mainstream spotlight. Additionally her hooks are highly infectious, her grooves are deeply moving, her beats are punching and each song got the power to be a sing-a-long hit.
Carhartt WIP now proudly presents her European tour. Kate Tempest will travel from France to Germany, from Switzerland to Spain and all the way up to Ireland, Scotland and the rest of Great Britain to make sure that everybody hears her thoughts, raps and poems. She will be backed by her thrilling live band. And on stage, she isn't just an artist that delivers critical messages, she is also an entertainer that plays with her audience emotionally. "Mixing Pop and Politics he asks me what the use is?" Billy Bragg once sang in his great critical hymn of hope Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards. Kate Tempest now gives answers without leaving the energy of pop behind.
