This week’s product edit sees Carhartt WIP classics deconstructed, then spliced back together, creating garments based on familiar icons, but which are undeniably new. Canvas, ripstop, corduroy, and twill all feature here – often on the same item. Silhouettes are built with a similar approach: the Medley Jacket, for example, is formed of a Michigan Coat base, its pockets borrowed from the Detroit and Arcan Jackets, and its sleeves that of an Active Jacket. The resulting composition is complex, yet still looks and feels like an archetypal Carhartt WIP garment. Elsewhere, jersey-based staples like the S/S Medley State T-Shirt are printed with an updated take on the State Flag graphic.
The same direction is taken in the women’s collection with styles like the W’ Medley Coat, which is also formed of a Michigan Coat base and has pocket detailing borrowed from the Arcan Jacket. Additionally, there is a dress inspired by the Bib Skirt Long, with ripstop elements on the front and a dropped arm hole. This program also sees an updated iteration of the W’ Pierce Pant Straight, in a mixed fabric composition.
